EMORY, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team dropped its matchup against Emory & Henry this Saturday afternoon, 2-1 at Fred Selfe Stadium.
The Southern Virginia (2-5-1) jumped on the board first in the 41st minute as Tori Wescott found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Sophomore Sydney Kuhni picked up the assist to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
The Wasps (2-4-1) started the second half quickly as Kristin Comer scored in the second minute of the second half on a long pass from Callie McMurray tying the game at 1-1.
In the 64th minute, Emory & Henry added what would be the winning goal from Amber Altice with McMurray again on the assist to give the Wasps the 2-1 victory.
The Knights added ten more shots in the second half with four landing on goal.
The Knights had a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks while also outshooting the Wasps 17-9.
Wescott led the Knights with four shots on goal while Gracie Duncan and Kuhni each added two.
Freshman Alyssa Trueman was at goal for Southern Virginia where she tallied five saves in the loss.
The Knights return to Knight Stadium next Wednesday, Sept. 25 starting at 5:00 p.m. against Eastern Mennonite.
