FROSTBURG, Md.—The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team dropped a road conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon to the Bobcats of Frostburg State University, 22-15.
The Bobcats (4-11, 1-3 CAC) scored the first three goals of the game before the Knights (8-7, 0-5 CAC) responded with a pair of goals of their own. Southern Virginia put up a good fight the rest of the half, scoring five more goals, but found themselves down 8-15 heading into the break.
At the start of the second, the Knights came out hot scoring the first four goals of the half, cutting the lead to three, 12-15. Frostburg State then went on a run of their own, scoring six unanswered goals to take a 21-12 lead with 5:48 left to play.
The Knights scored three of the games last four goals, but their effort was in vain, falling 22-15.
Caitriona Knowles led all scorers with a game-high six goals to go along with an assist. Lauren Thatcher also had a solid outing with four goals while midfielder Jordan Gunderson picked up a game-high nine ground balls to go along with a pair of assists and a goal.
The Knights will continue CAC play as they will travel to Salisbury University to take on the Seagulls on the 20th of April at 11 a.m.
