YORK, Pa. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team dropped a conference matchup with No. 8 York College of Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon, falling by a score of 20-3.
The Spartans' (10-4, 4-0 CAC) potent offense was hot early as York scored nine goals within the first 10 minutes of the game on their way to a 15-0 halftime lead.
The Knights (8-6, 0-4 CAC) found some success in the second period as Catriona Knowles scored back-to-back goals midway through the half. Senior Megan Barfuss found the back of the net with a little over three minutes left for the Knights' only other goal of the game.
Knowles and senior Hannah King led the team with three shots each, while freshman Jordan Gundersen finished with two. Chloe Mitchell set of Knowles' first goal, picking up her ninth assist of the year.
The Knights will look to grab their first CAC win on Tuesday as they hit the road to take on Frostburg State. The game is slated for 4:30 p.m. in Frostburg, Maryland.
