Knights Take Down St. Andrews, 18-5

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's lacrosse team won a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon against St. Andrews 18-5 at Knight Stadium.

The Knights (7-2) dominated St. Andrews (5-4, 2-2) in the first half scoring the games first four goals. After a St. Andrews goal, the Knights once again went on another run, scoring eight consecutive goals pushing the Knights to a 12-2 lead at the half.

Southern Virginia slowed down in the second half, still outscoring St. Andrews 6-3 to claim an 18-5 win.

Caitriona Knowles led the Knights with a game-high six assists while adding an assist. Hannah King tallied five goals and a pair of assists while Lauren Thatcher, Megan Barfuss, and Chloe Mitchell each scored a pair of goals. Jordan Gundersen led the game with six ground balls.

Madilyn K. Pedroza earned the win at goal where she recorded three saves.

The Knights kick off Capital Athletic Conference play this Friday, Mar. 29 against St. Mary's (Md.).
