Knights Fall to Sea Gulls

BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team fell in a fast-paced, high-energy contest to Salisbury University on Saturday night, falling to the undefeated-in-conference opponent, 79-48.

The Sea Gulls, who are 7-1 overall with three Capital Athletic Conference wins, played lockdown defense, causing the Knights (2-7, 0-4 CAC) to shoot just 25% from the field.

The Knights' best shooting came in the second quarter when they outscored Salisbury 20-19 and seven different players scored for Southern Virginia.

Senior forward Morgan Hartvigsen (Kaysville, Utah) led the team with 11 points, with three 3-pointers and a pair of free throws. Season scoring leader Shelby Winsor (West Richland, Wash.) added eight while freshman guard Cory Stout (Murray, Utah) chipped in seven.

The Knights have three weeks off before a pair of non-conference games against Mary Baldwin and William Peace on December 31 and January 2.
