BUENA VISTA, Va.—The Southern Virginia women's basketball team was defeated by Penn St.-Harrisburg 78-61 on Saturday afternoon in the Knights Sports Arena.
"This was one of those games where the ball didn't fall into the basket. We shot more than they did, but we only shot 30% which was our undoing," said head coach Heather Roberts, "We also forced a season high of 40 turnovers and had 19 steals, but were unable to capitalize on the extra possessions. The team worked really hard, but we are disappointed we did not get the win."
Sophomore Shelby Winsor led the Knight's (2-9, 1-4 CAC) attack with 15 points, three rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Morgan Hartvigsen and Merideth Ouellette each earned nine points and two assists. Senior Larissa Macfarlane added seven rebounds.
The Knights travel to Frostburg, Maryland where they will face conference opponent Frostburg State University on Wednesday evening. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
