Captains Roll Past Knights

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.—In their first game back from the holiday break, the Southern Virginia women's basketball team fell on the road 106-53 to Christopher Newport University.

Junior guard Morgan Hartvigsen led the Knights (1-9, 0-4 CAC) with 12 points and went three of six from behind the arc. Senior Larissa Macfarlane scored 10 points and sophomore Shelby Winsor led the team 12 rebounds while chipping in nine points from the bench.

The Captains (9-2, 2-2 CAC) shot 51 percent from the field and pressed for most of the game, forcing the Knights to have 37 turnovers. The Knights shot 40 percent from the field and 59 percent from the free throw line.

The Knights return home on Wednesday, January 6 as they host St. Mary's College of Maryland. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Knight Sports Arena.
