Southern Virginia Wins Sixth Straight

NEW YORK, N.Y.—All five starters scored in double-figures as the Southern Virginia University men's basketball team collected its sixth straight win on Friday night coasting past Berkeley College-New Jersey 77-50.

Sophomore Anders Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) led the way for Southern Virginia (15-9) against Berkeley-NJ (6-16) scoring a game-high 15 points on 4-for-6 shooting, including 4-of-5 from behind the arc.

The Knights' leading scorer on the year, Casey Nye (Kaysville, Utah), added 12 points and a game-high four assists, while junior Isaac Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) scored 11 points and handed out three assists.

Senior Travis Van Noy (Reno, Nev.) and sophomore Jonathan Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) each added 10 points during Friday's victory, while pulling down eight and seven boards respectively.

Southern Virginia led by only one-point (28-27) at intermission after a low scoring first half before exploding for 49 points in the second half, while locking down on defense holding Berkeley to 23 points over the final 20 minutes of play.

Southern Virginia finished an even 50 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from long range, while Berkeley shot 32.2 percent for the evening and 12.5 from downtown.

Men's basketball plays its final regular-season game tomorrow at 2 p.m. EDT against Berkeley College-New York as the Knights look to enter the 2012 USCAA National Tournament on a season-long seven-game winning streak.
