MONTGOMERY, W.Va.—The Southern Virginia University men's basketball team suffered its worst loss of the season on Wednesday night falling 72-99 at West Virginia University Institute of Technology.

Southern Virginia (8-8) previously defeated WVU-Tech (14-6) at home on Jan. 10, but the Knights never led during Wednesday's rematch in the Baisi Center as the Golden Bears pushed their home record to 11-2.

Freshman Jaden Welsh (Ogden, Utah) was a bright spot for the Knights hitting 4-of-6 from behind the arc to finish with a career-high 15 points in 14 minutes off the bench.

Jonathan Jacobson (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) also finished with 15, while Southern Virginia's leading scorer on the season Casey Nye (Kaysville, Utah) added 13 in the loss.

The Knights have now lost two straight following their season-long five-game winning streak, but look to rebound this weekend at home against USCAA-rival The Apprentice School.

Southern Virginia, currently ranked No. 4 in the USCAA Coaches' Poll, enters Saturday's matchup with No. 3 Apprentice riding a program-record 16-game home winning streak. Read more about the Knights' unique home court advantage at
