SALISBURY, Md. — The Southern Virginia University baseball team started their three-game series against No. 10 Salisbury University this weekend, falling 6-3 in the first game after several weather delays ended the Capital Atheltic Conference matchup in five-innings.
Bridger Taylor put the Knights (14-13, 5-10) ahead 2-0 with his sixth home run of the season in the top of the first inning with a two-run shot.
The Sea Gulls (30-6, 17-2) scored one run the following inning to trail 2-1.
In the next two innings, the Sea Gulls managed to put five runs on the Knights with a four-run rally coming in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-3 lead.
Play stopped due to weather creating a two-hour delay. After the delay, the game was called after the fifth inning, handing the Knights the 6-3 loss.
The Knights wrap up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader starting at 12:00 p.m.
