Clint May is the head cross country coach at Southern Virginia Unviersity, overseeing both the men's and women's programs.

The 18-time Montana Cross Country Champion and 18-time  Montana Coach of the Year was named to the position in June 2016.

Coach May has been one of the best high school coaches in the country and a legend in Montana. His success coaching cross country, as well as track and field makes him an ideal fit to build the programs and take our teams to the next level.

Since becoming head cross country coach at Montana’s Bozeman High School in 2006, May’s boys’ cross country team has won nine-of-the-past-ten AA state titles and his girls’ team has won nine straight. For each of his 18 state titles, May was named Montana Coach of the Year.

May also served as Bozeman High School’s assistant track and field coach since 1998.

In 2015-16 May's distance crew at Bozeman High School reached program-high marks both as teams and with individuals. In cross country both squads followed their State Championships with first and second places finishes at the all Northwest Championships hosted by Nike.  With top two finishes both programs qualified for Nationals where the boys ended the season eighth, and the girls 19th in the country.

Three school records were broken on the 2015-16 track team:  Chase Equall, 4:13 for 1600 meters, and 9:13 for 3200 meters.  Piper Meuwissen, 10:49 for 3200 meters.  A record five girls broke the 5:20 mark for 1600 meters, highlighting the season.

May graduated from Montana State University in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in health enhancement and has been teaching middle school since 2007. He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Detroit, Michigan.
