Knights Finish Sixth at CAC Championships

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's cross country team finished sixth place this afternoon at the Capital Athletic Conference Championships.

Freshman Jill Westman was the first Knight to finish the race, coming in 16th place overall and earning Second Team All-CAC honors with a time of 25:10.1. Jessica Simpson followed with a 22nd place for a top-25 finish.

Elora Smith 49th place, Kate Huber 54th place, and Madison Malmgren 71st place, round out the Knights' top-five.

"We have a really young team; we still lack some of the needed experience to finish higher than what we did," said Head Coach Clint May. "Jill had a phenomenal race. I am happy for her and making an all-conference team."

The York Spartans won both the men and women titles.

The Knights will now prepare for the Regional Championships Saturday, Nov. 10 in Rome, Georgia.
