Knights Finish Eighth at the James Madison Invitational

HARRISONBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University cross country men's and women's teams competed at the James Madison Invitational on Saturday, with the men's team finishin seventh and the women's placing eighth.

Colter May produced a top-15 overall finish for the Knights running the 8K course in 27:42. Kevin Shelly followed with a 39th place finish while Brendan Scott (46), John Curnutt (71), and Tyler Bryant (81) rounded out the team's top-five respectively. 

Freshman Jill Westman led the women's team with a 39th overall finish, while freshman Jessica Simpson followed closely behind Westman finishing 40th. Elora Smith came in third for the Knights, finishing 43rd, with Kate Huber (46) and Tommi Batty (62) closing out the team's top-five.

The Knights next will head to the Shenandoah Commonwealth Challenge in two weeks at Winchester, Virginia on Saturday Sept. 22.
