SVU Wins Dual With Hood

FREDERICKSBURG, Md. Paced by four top-five finishers, the Southern Virginia Women's Cross Country team won a dual meet with Hood. Leila Schultz finished in second place for the visitors followed by Amy Steflik, Mary Massey and Tori Isham. The quartet finished within 30 seconds of each other to push the nights to victory. SVU ended the meet with 22 points while Hood tallied 37.

SVU placed the 8-12 runners all together as Randi Rose, Cassie Cooper, Kylie Miles, Paige Wellendorf and Madeleine Jeppson finished strongly and gave the Knights an overwhelming lead that Hood could not overcome.

"To have that kind of placement with your runners is a tremendous accomplishment," said Head Coach Leslie McKinney. "We ran very well today, and our strength was in our grouping. To have four runners within a half-a-minute of each other is awesome, and to have the in the top for is amazing. I'm excited for what we can do at the National meet."

Britnee Redd, Ann Fowler and Mickenzie Wilden were the final runners to place for the Knights. SVU will now look ahead to the USCAA National Invitational scheduled for Nov. 6 in Concord, New Hampshire.
