Knights Split Decicions Against York and Hood College

YORK, Pa. – The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team played in a pair of games this Saturday, finishing the day 1-1 after dropping the first match 3-0 against York in a conference matchup and swept the second match against Hood College 3-0.

In the first match, Southern Virginia (14-8, 4-2) struggled against the Spartans (14-7,3-3), losing 25-21, 25-15, and 25-16. The Knights offense struggled and with some additional errors found themselves down for the majority of each set.

Mykynli Knight had her second straight game of 27 or more digs. Hailey Lohnes was the only Knight to reach double figures in kills, with 10.

In the second match of the day, the Knights rebounded from the earlier loss and improved in all aspects of the game, defeating Hood College (13-12) 25-20, 25-11, and 25-22.

Lohnes and senior Allison Tiegs paved the way for the Knights with each recording eight kills and hit over .250. Julia Hopkin and Lohnes hit double figures with 11 and 10 digs in the win and teammates LaRee Crockett and Mallory Rath added 12 and 10 assists.

The Knights will now head into a conference matchup at Christopher Newport on Wednesday, Oct.. 24 at 7:00 p.m.
