Knights Remain Unbeaten, Win 24th Annual Cougar Classic

DANVILLE, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team continued its dominance on the second day of the 24th Annual Cougar Classic by defeating William Peace and Guilford (3-0)earning a undefeated 4-0 tournament run.

Day two of competition, the Knights faced William Peace in game one winning in three straight sets 25-20, 25-21, and 31-29.  Southern Virginia then competed against Guilford for game two sweeping the Quakers in three sets, 25-23, 25-15, and 25-13. The Knights were supported by an array of dominant performances.

Kaely Rath led the team with 16 and 10 kills, while LaRee Crocket had another solid day with 44 and 30 assists and Mykynli Knight contributing with team-high 39 and 18 digs and Lindsey Hyer with Allison Tiegs anchored the defense.

"We played great as a team and had the effort needed to compete each match," said Head Coach Debby Baker. "We played with a great level of focus and intensity, by doing so we were able to run a balanced offense and show our toughness."

The Knights continue its road play next at Emory & Henry on Sept. 4.
