Women's Volleyball Positioned Fifth in CAC Preseason Poll

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team placed fifth in the recently released Capital Athletic Conference preseason poll.

The Knights are positioned one place higher than the 2017 season after having a strong regular season, posting a 22-8 overall record.

Southern Virginia lost several key players to graduation. The Knights will hope to build their foundation with a group of young talent and first-year Head Coach Debby Baker.

"I look forward to the season," said Baker. "We lost a strong portion of our offense; I am anxious to see who will step up and fill our gaps. We want to challenge ourselves and have a foundation that will prepare us for the end of the season."

The Knights open the season Aug. 31 at the 24th Annual Cougar Classic in Danville, Virginia.
