Knights Sweep Spartans to Remain Unbeaten in Conference

BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's volleyball team remains unbeaten in Capital Athletic Conference play after sweeping York College of Pennsylvania 3-0 in front of a home crowd on Friday night.

"I'm incredibly proud of how hard the team worked tonight," head coach Nicole Gwynn said. "It's exciting and feels so good to be 4-0 in conference now." 

The Knights (15-4, 4-0 CAC) won handily in all three games, 25-16, 25-15, and 25-9 to continue their red-hot streak. 

Leading the way were seniors Penny Gwynn and Hannah Allred who recorded 16 and 10 kills. Gwynn also had four block assists while Allred aced three serves. 

Setter LaRee Crockett, the CAC Player of the Week, recorded a double-double with 22 assists and 13 digs. Libero Mykynli Knight also had 13 digs. Middle blocker Hailey Lohnes recorded a season-high six blocks with five block assists. 

The Knights are back in action Saturday morning as they host Penn St.-Harrisburg and Bridgewater College. Game one begins at 11 a.m. in the Knight Sports Arena. The 11 a.m. game will be streamed live.
