Tlustek Named USCAA Setter of the Week Once Again

By Daniel Whitehead

YORK, Pa.—For the second straight week, Southern Virginia University sophomore Katelynn Tlustek was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Setter of the Week for her efforts in three matches played last week.

In 10 sets of competition, the Bedford, Ind., native accounted for 12 kills on 32 attempts and earned 103 assists to guide the Knights' attack. She was also responsible for eight service aces.

Defensively, Tlustek achieved 23 digs and four assisted blocks to help the Knights to wins over Randolph College and Averett University. Against Averett last Friday, she had a season-high 38 assists to lead Southern Virginia to its 3-1 win over the Cougars.

"Katelynn is playing some good volleyball right now and is doing a nice job of directing our offense," said Southern Virginia head coach Paige Hiatt. "She's playing with confidence, which is why her sets are on target and she's putting the ball where it needs to be and when it needs to be there. It's fun to see her hard work paying off."

Last week she was also honored as the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for leading the Knights to three wins over CAC opponents.

Southern Virginia next faces Mary Washington for a road match Wednesday evening. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
