Sophomore Tlustek Named CAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week

YORK, Pa.—After helping her team to four victories in three days last week, Southern Virginia University women's volleyball sophomore Katelynn Tlustek was named the Capital Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week by the league Tuesday afternoon.

The Bedford, Ind., native helped the Knights to wins over CAC foes St. Mary's (Md.), Wesley and York (Pa.) from last Thursday through Saturday to achieve the honor. A setter, Tlustek was responsible for 15 kills, a .375 hitting percentage, 111 assists, 10 service aces, 23 digs and four blocks as Southern Virginia won 12 of 13 sets between the four games.

"I was very happy with the effort that Katelynn played with last week," said Southern Virginia head coach Paige Hiatt. "Her sets were consistently on target and easy for the attackers to put down. She did a great job of getting herself in position and setting everyone up and then distributing the ball to them when they needed it. She was a major reason we won all four games during the week."

Tlustek was also honored by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as the Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week for her efforts.

The Knights face CAC foe and No. 24-ranked Christopher Newport at home tonight at 5 p.m. at Knight Sports Arena. Southern Virginia also has matches versus Randolph (Thu., 7 p.m.) and Averett (Fri., 6 p.m.) this week.
