GREENSBORO, N.C.—Looking for a third consecutive victory, the Southern Virginia University volleyball team accomplished the task with a win in straight sets at Guilford College Friday night at Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse in Greensboro, N.C.

The Knights (4-4) moved to .500 on the season with the win as they defeated the Quakers (5-8) in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19.

"I'm happy with the team because we went out and played with consistency and confidence," said Southern Virginia head coach Paige Hiatt. "We faced a pretty good Guilford team and played amazing defense. Our serving was key and we had very few errors both on our serves and on the receiving end."

Southern Virginia's Kaitlyn Eaton led the Knight attack with eight kills during the game and was followed by Tori Tuttle and McKenzie Weaver, who each registered seven apiece. Shannon Romito and Shyanne Ison earned five and four kills, respectively.

Altogether, the Knights had just 16 errors on 97 total attacks. Sophomore Katelynn Tlustek guided the attack with 28 assists on the night and a team-high seven service aces.

Defensively, Southern Viginia allowed just three receiving errors off Guilford serves. The Knights also had four block assists during the match.

Guilford's Brittany Freeman led the Quaker offensive with eight kills during the game while Malikah French tallied five.

The Knights return to action Tuesday night at home with a match against Eastern Mennonite. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Knight Sports Arena.
