BUENA VISTA, Va. - The Southern Virginia University Volleyball
team has announced their 2009 schedule. The Knights will be looking
to improve on last years 26-10 record and third place finish at the
USCAA National Tournament. The 2009 schedule includes numerous foes
that the Knights have seen in previous years.
The season begins on Aug. 25, as SVU will host Sweet Briar
College. On Aug. 28, the team will travel to compete in the
Milligan Tournament with opponents to be announced at a later date.
The Knights will return home on the Sept. 1 to host a familiar ODAC
foe, Roanoke College. The week will be full of Roanoke competition
as the Knights will travel down to play in the Roanoke Tournament
on Sept. 4-5.
Concord University will come to play in Knight Arena on the Sept.
8, and then the Knights travel the short distance to Lexington, Va.
to compete in the Washington & Lee Tournament. The Knights will
then host back-to-back games against West Virginia Tech on the
18-19 at home.
SVU then hits the road for matches against Ferrum and Randolph,
followed by a home match against Eastern Mennonite. The Knights
travel to play at West Virginia Tech on Oct. 1. The team hits the
road again as they head to play at Concord University, and then
takes part in the Emory and Henry Tournament on Oct. 9-10
The Knights will then travel to play at Bridgewater followed by a
trip to the Virginia Intermont Tournament the next day. SVU wraps
up the regular season with a trip to Randolph on the Oct. 24. The
Knights will be then looking to return to the USCAA National
Tournament and vie for the championship. The tournament will take
place form Nov. 5-7 and will be hosted by Spaulding University in
Louisville, Ky.
