Krebs Named Second Team All-State By VASID

BUENA VISTA, Va. Junior Setter Ali Krebs has been named to the 2009 All-State Second Team by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. The All-State Team is compiled and voted on by the sports information directors at the universities and colleges in Virginia.

Krebs had a stellar junior year as she led the Knights to another top-three finish at the USCAA National Tournament. For her efforts Krebs has already been named to the All-American team for the USCAA as well as the All-Tournament team.

Krebs amassed over 722 assists on the season as the hub for the Knight offense. She also totaled 11 kills, 8 aces, 97 digs, and 17 total blocks for the 2009 season.

"This is a well deserved honor for Ali," said Head Coach Brian Pendleton. "She was a key that helped us step it up this season and take the program to a new level. She has done so well for us, and she has been such a driving force for the team. I'm very happy for her."

Krebs has also performed at a strong level in the classroom as she was named to the Academic All-American Team. Krebs is the first volleyball player from SVU to be named to the All-State Team.
