Knights Take First Two Matches at USCAA Tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Powered by a straight set shutout of Penn State- Fayette, the Southern Virginia Volleyball team took the first to matches of the USCAA Tournament. The Knights routed Penn State-Fayette 25-15 and 25-13. In USCAA tournament play the opening round games are best-of-three matches. The eighth-seeded Knights overcame the higher seed, and announced their presence at the tournament with the overwhelming win.

"This win will give us a boost of confidence for the rest of the tournament," said Head Coach Brian Pendleton. "It will be a long weekend, but to win early helps our cause."

The Knights then moved on to compete against Rochester College. The Knights got the win, and sit atop pool 2 as they head into Day 2 of the tournament. SVU will compete against the number ten seed Talladega College. After the match with Talladega, the Knights will face the number two seed Florida College. Pool play will finish Nov. 6, and the second round will follow.
