MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. — The Southern Virginia University men's and women's track and field teams sent a small number of athletes to compete in the Mount Olive First Chance and Multi Meet Saturday afternoon.
On the men's team, Daniel de la Cruz was the only Knight to travel competing in the 400m hurdles. De la Cruz finished ninth overall in a strong field of runners recording a time of 55.79 seconds.
On the women's side, Baylee Mulitalo recorded the highest finish with a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.93m. Mulitalo added a fourth-place finish in the discus and eighth in the hammer throw. Mesi Havea placed fifth in the discus with a mark of 39.79m and then recorded a new personal best in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.50m placing sixth. Kanani Lasike finished sixth in the discus with a toss measuring 38.92m.
The Knights travel will hit the road Monday, May 13 to compete at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.
