Blasko, Mulitalo Lead Knights at CAC Indoor Championships

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Southern Virginia University men's and women's track and field team finished the final day of the Capital Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon, winning several events and setting several school records.

After finishing third yesterday in the weight throw, freshman thrower Baylee Mulitalo collected her first individual CAC Championship in the shot put with a throw of 12.78. Mulitalo's weekend earned her the CAC Rookie of the Year honors.

The Knights throwers continued their dominance in the shot put with Ella Burrows placing third throwing 11.83m, Mesi Havea 11.12m finishing fifth, and Madeleine Maher 10.82m coming in eighth.

Abigail Kinoshita set a new school record in the 200m with a time of 29.69, breaking her own previous record of 29.92 seconds.

Senior Derek Blasko led the way for Southern Virginia on the men's side becoming the CAC shot put champion with a new school record with a toss of 15.53m.

The women's team finished the meet in sixth place while the men's team finished seventh.

The Knights will now prepare for the Roanoke Final Qualifier Saturday, Mar. 2.
