Deidra Dryden is the head women's tennis coach, senior woman athletics administrator, associate athletic director, and Title IX coordinator at Southern Virginia University.

During the 2010-2011 academic year, Dryden served as Southern Virginia’s acting athletic director spearheading the university’s NCAA Division III exploratory application process and leading the athletics program to its highest combined winning percentage (.566). That year she also led her women’s tennis team to a 15-3 record, which marked the best season in the program's six-year history.

Dryden began coaching at Southern Virginia in 1997 when she helped recruit the university’s first women’s basketball, volleyball and soccer teams.

From 1998-1999, Dryden was the head women’s soccer coach leading the team to an impressive 10-2 record in its inaugural season, capped by an NSCAA national championship. That year she was also head women’s basketball coach and guided the first-year team to a fourth-place finish at the NSCAA national tournament.

The following year, Dryden was the assistant women’s basketball coach and helped the team win the 2000 NSCAA national championship.

In the spring of 2000, she became head softball coach in the program’s second year and took the team to a second-place finish at the NSCAA national tournament. As head softball coach from 2000-2004, Dryden led the team to five straight national tournament appearances.

After softball’s third-place finish at the 2004 USCAA national tournament, Dryden took a leave of absence from coaching, but began teaching courses at Southern Virginia as an adjunct instructor of mathematics. She returned to coaching in spring 2008 as head women’s tennis coach.

Dryden's intercollegiate athletic career includes playing tennis at Brigham Young University-Hawaii and playing basketball and tennis at Columbus State University.

Dryden has a B.S. in math education from Columbus State University and is working to complete a master's degree in mathematics from James Madison University.

She and her husband, Dr. Brent Dryden, live in Buena Vista, Va., with their five children.

1998—Head women’s soccer coach for program's inagural season; 10-2 career record; program's all-time highest winning percentage; 1998 NSCAA national championship; tied for highest single-season winning percentage (.833) of any athletics team in Southern Virginia history

1998-1999—Head women’s basketball coach for program's inagural season; 15-12 career record; program's all-time highest winning percentage (.555); placed fourth at 1999 NSCAA national tournament

2000—Assistant women’s basketball coach; 2000 NSCAA national championship

2000-2004—Head softball coach; program's all-time winningest coach; program's all-time highest winning percentage; five consecutive postseason appearances; second-place finish at 2000 NSCAA national tournament

2004-2014—Adjunct professor of mathematics

2008-Present—Head women’s tennis coach; program's all-time winningest coach; program's all-time highest winning percentage; led 2011 team to program-best 15-3 record
