Knights Overpowered by Mary Washington, Fall in CAC Semifinals

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team fell to  top-seeded University of Mary Washington 5-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the semifinals of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Knights went down 3-0 after doubles, with Rachel Neeleman and Elizabeth Fuchs falling 8-1 at No. 1 fllight and Rachel Christensen and Lauren Morrison dropping thier match at the No. 2 spot 8-0 while the closest match came at the No. 3 flight as Alyssa Sewell and Morgan Blount fell 8-2.

Mary Washington quickly clinched the match in singles as Southern Virginia fell 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 4 and 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 6 spot, giving the Eagles the 5-0 victory.

The Knights end their season with an impressive 15-5 record, their best ever finish, as well as a trip to the second round of the CAC tournament for the first time in program history.
