ROANOKE, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team defeated the Maroons of Roanoke College 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Knights (11-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after winning all of the doubles points.
Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell were the first to finish in doubles downing their opponents from Roanoke (7-4) 8-1. The No. 2 team consisting of Lauren Morrison and Rachel Christensen finished next with an 8-5 win, while Rachel Neeleman and Elizabeth Fuchs were able to win a tough grind at No. 1, 8-6.
Southern Virginia managed to win five of the six singles matches among which were Rachel Neeleman at the No. 1 position who took down her opponent 6-2, 6-1 and Senior team captain Lauren Morrison who dominated 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.
The Knights will jump back into CAC play as they'll face the Captains of Christopher Newport University on the 5th of April at 2 p.m.
