Women’s Tennis Perfect in CAC Opening Day

FREDERICKSBURG, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team swept both Frostburg State University and St. Mary's College of Maryland in their opening matches of CAC play in a Friday doubleheader.

Against Frostburg St. (4-2, 0-1 CAC), the Knights (9-1, 2-0 CAC) took all of the doubles points including an 8-4 win by Rachel Neeleman and Elizabeth Fuchs who played in her first match of the season returning from injury.

Lauren Morrison and Rachel Christensen then made quick work of their opponents in singles 6-0, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-2 to win the match for Southern Virginia 5-0.

The Knights then played St. Mary's College of Maryland (0-9, 0-1 CAC) dropping only four games between all of the doubles points.

Southern Virginia dominated in singles as well as they were led by 6-0, 6-0 wins by both Annie Aldrich and Natalie Teets downing the Seahawks 9-0.

The Knights will continue CAC action on the 23rd of February as they will take on No. 17 University of Mary Washington at 10 a.m.
