Women's Tennis Defeats Cardinals in Day Two Matchup

HILTON HEAD, S.C. — The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team dominated day two of the tournament with a 9-0 victory over Catholic University of America.

The number three doubles of Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell finished first with a quick 8-0 and were followed by teammates Audrey McBride and Lauren Morrison also earning an 8-0 win. The duo of Rachel Neeleman and Rachel Christensen finished the sweep for the Knights in doubles with an 8-3 victory.

In singles, the Knights closed out the sweep with all six singles defeating their opponents. Singles winners included McBride in the number slot, with the day's longest match winning 7-6, 6-4.

Morrison at the number two battled in the first set collecting a 7-6 win and then pulled away in the second set 6-1.

Neeleman, Christensen, Sewell and Blount each closed out their opponents and helped extend the Knights win-streak to six matches with a 9-0 win.

The Knights head into their final day of play at Hilton Head Saturday, Mar. 16 at 9:00 a.m. against Wooster.
