Buena Vista, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team defeated Hollins University 9-0 in their first match of spring play.
With the win, the Knights improve to 3-0 on the season.
In doubles action, Southern Virginia jumped out to a 3-0 lead as the #3 duo of Morgan Blount and Alyssa Sewell finished first, defeating their opponents 8-0. The other two teams quickly followed as the #1 team won 8-0 and the #2 team won 8-2.
In singles, the Knights completed the sweep dropping only 7 total games between the 6 matches.
"This was a great start to our season," said head coach Deidra Dryden. "We have some tough matches ahead but this team continues to work hard despite injuries, weather or any other obstacle that comes in our way."
Southern Virginia returns to action as they travel to Salem University for a match on the 12th of March at 2 p.m.
