FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team has been picked to finish sixth in the Capital Athletic Conference Preseason Poll, and they currently has a 3-1 record.

In the fall, the Knights went 2-1 as a team, only falling to Randolph College 5-4. Natalie Teets, Rachel Christensen, and Mercedes Matley lead the team with 3-0 singles records.

Returning from the 2016-17 season are Lauren Morrison, Natalie Teets, Makaela Adamson, and Laura Elko. Audrey McBride, Rachel Christensen, and Elizabeth Fuchs all return from previous seasons as well. Mercedes Matley is the lone freshman on the team.

"We have a great team this year," says head coach Diedra Dryden. "Our team knows how demanding the season can be. I think that the experience we have is going to help us, especially later in the season."

The Knights will play their second match of the spring season at home on Tuesday, March 6 at 3 p.m. against Hollins College.
