Women’s Tennis Picks Up First Ever CAC Victory

HERSHEY, Pa.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team earned its first ever Capital Athletic Conference victory Friday, taking a 6-3 advantage over Penn State Harrisburg at Hershey Racquet Club in Hershey, Pa.  

In doubles competition, freshman duo Anna Evans and Kari Stollenwerk picked up an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot, while Katelynn Tlustek and Shannon Romito defeated their opponents, 8-5. Lauren Morrison and Micah Roberts fell at the No. 1 spot by an 8-3 score.

In singles play, Morrison, Tlustek, Stollenwerk and Katie Durrant all won in straight sets over their opponents, helping the Knights to victory. Roberts and Evans both fell in tightly contested three-set matches.

Southern Virginia improves to 7-11 on the season while the Lions fall to 3-13.
