Women’s Tennis Drops Road Contest to Salisbury

By Wesley Evans

BUENA VISTA, Va. –The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team had its win streak ended Friday as it lost to host Salisbury University, 9-0, at the SU Outdoor Courts. The Seagulls are ranked No. 9 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the Atlantic South Region and are undefeated in Capital Athletic Conference play.

Despite a valiant effort by Southern Virginia, the Seagulls took all three doubles matches by scores of 8-0, 8-1 and 8-1, respectively.

In singles play it was much of the same as Salisbury took care of each Knight player in straight sets.

With the loss, the Knights fall to 6-10 on the season, while Salisbury improves to 7-5 (2-0 CAC).

Women's tennis will have little rest as it comes back home to host CAC member St. Mary's College of Maryland Saturday morning. The first match is slated to begin at 11:30 am at The Fields.
