Women's Tennis defeats Bluefield

BUENA VISTA, Va. –The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team toppled visiting NAIA member Bluefield College with a 7-2 victory Thursday afternoon.

The Knights dominated doubles competition taking all three matches. Katelynn Tlustek and Kirsten Laurence edged out the Rams' Casey Germain and Rebecca Havens by a close score of 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles.

Micah Roberts and Lauren Morrison didn't lose a game as they won 8-0, while Anna Evans and Kari Stollenwerk also brought home an 8-0 victory.

In singles competition, Laurence and Morrison both dropped their matches at the No. 1 and 2 spot, but the rest of the Knights picked up victories as Roberts, Tlustek, Evans and Stollenwerk all won in straight sets. 

The Knights improve to 4-9 on the season, while Bluefield drops to 2-9.

Women's tennis will look to continue in its winning ways as it hosts fellow Capital Athletic Conference member St. Mary's College of Maryland this Saturday. Start time is scheduled for 1 pm.
