Women's Tennis Makes It Six Straight at MBC

STAUNTON, Va.—The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team continued to roll on Thursday with a dominant 9-0 win at Mary Baldwin College making it six straight for the Knights.

"We're playing really well right now," said fourth-year head coach Deidra Dryden. "We'll continue to work hard everyday and improve with many tough matches left this season."

Southern Virginia (6-1) took all three doubles matches from Mary Baldwin pushing its season dual record to 14-6 (.700). 

The Knights' top duo of Rachel Reid (Woodland Hills, Utah) and Bethany Johnson (Alpine, Utah) climbed to 4-2 this season with an 8-2 doubles win, while Ivy Kuroki (Hershey, Neb.) and Rebekah Reid (Woodland Hills, Utah) won 8-1 and improved to 5-1 as a pair.

In singles play, No. 1 Ra. Reid, No. 2 Re. Reid, No. 5 Rebekah Ericson (Morgan, Utah) and No. 6 Courtney McNeil (Medina, N.Y.) all won in straight sets, while Johnson and Kuroki each prevailed in super tiebreakers at the three and four spots respectively.

Women's tennis has a day off before traveling to Guilford College on Saturday, Mar. 24 for a match at 2:30 p.m. EST.
