LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team did not drop a single set during a 9-0 victory over NCAA Division III Randolph College Monday afternoon.
Southern Virginia (11-2) opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matches from winless Randolph (0-11) while dropping only five games total.
After tearing through doubles play, Southern Virginia then took all six singles matches in straight sets.
The Reid sisters each dropped only one game in their respective singles wins as Ra. Reid was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at No.1 doubles and Re. Reid was a 6-0, 6-1 winner in the second-seeded doubles match.
Bridge (No. 3) won 6-3, 6-1 in the closest singles match of the day.
Neither McGinn (No. 4) or Ericson (No. 5) dropped a game in their singles 6-0, 6-0 singles wins.
Gibbons closed out the scoring for the Knights with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the sixth-seeded singles match.
Women's tennis will play again on Saturday, Apr. 9 against The University of Virginia's College at Wise. The match is part of a doubleheader with Southern Virginia men's tennis and will take place in Lexington, Va. on the Washington and Lee University Outdoor Tennis Courts starting at 11 a.m.
Saturday's match will make history for both men's and women's tennis as it will count as the first-ever home match for either program.
