SWEET BRIAR, Va. — After defeating the University of Virginia's College at Wise 8-1 earlier in the afternoon, the Southern Virginia University women's tennis team fell to Sweet Briar College 5-1 in its second match on Saturday.
Southern Virginia (12-3) won only one of three doubles matches against Sweet Briar (11-4) and then lost three straight in singles play to give the Vixens the five points needed for the victory.
After a long day for both the Knights and Vixens—Sweet Briar had also played an earlier conference match defeating Emory and Henry College 5-0—the coaches decided to call the match once a winner had been decided.
Jaclynn Arrington and Jennifer Jensen were the only Knights to pick up a win at Sweet Briar prevailing 8-2 in the third-seeded doubles match.
Women's tennis has two days off before traveling to Averrtt University on Tuesday, Apr. 12 for a match at 3 p.m.
