Southern Virginia Defeats McDaniel 8-1, Stays Perfect on Season

WESTMINSTER, Md. — The Southern Virginia University women's tennis team did not drop a game in doubles play and took five of six singles matches on route to Thursday's 8-1 victory over McDaniel College.

For the third consecutive match, Southern Virginia (8-0) dominated doubles play with 8-0 victories from Rachel Reid and Bethany Johnson at No. 1, Rebekah Reid and Brynn McGinn at No. 2, and Jennifer Jensen and Kayela Bridge at No. 3.

The Knights then sealed the victory by taking each of the first three singles matches from McDaniel (0-3) in straight sets.

The Reid sisters both won all but two games in their respective singles matches as Ra. Reid was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 1 and Re. Reid won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.

Jaclynn Arrington won her fourth singles match in three days with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3.

With Southern Virginia's victory secured, Jensen and Rebekah Ericson both won their singles matches 8-3, while Brittany Gibbons fell 8-5 at No. 6.

Women's tennis will complete its four-day, five-game road trip on Friday, Mar. 11 against St. Mary's College of Maryland at 3 p.m.
