MaKenzie Cox is entering her second season as head coach of the Southern Virginia University women’s soccer team. Her first year was spent as an interim head coach.
During her time as interim head coach, she led the Knights to a pair of conference wins. Last season, she led the team to a 6-11 season, improving from a one-win season the previous year.
Cox played four seasons as a goalie for the Knights and became Southern Virginia’s All-Time saves leader with 264 career saves. Cox also played for the Southern Virginia softball team, leading the team with the most RBI's and highest batting average.
She served as the administrative assistant for the athletics department for two years.
She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management and leadership from Southern Virginia University in May 2015.
MaKenzie and her husband, Tyler, a former member of the baseball and men's lacrosse programs at Southern Virginia, reside in Buena Vista.
Maia McArthur is an assistant coach for Southern Virginia women's soccer.
Matt Grawrock is an assistant women’s soccer coach.
Grawrock also serves as the NCAA compliance director and academic director for athletics.
He helped spearhead the university’s transition to NCAA Division III membership.
Prior to becoming Southern Virginia’s compliance officer, Grawrock was the head girl’s soccer coach at Valley Catholic High School in Beaverton, Ore. from 2002-2005, amassing a 36-19-6 (.639) record, including four league playoff appearances and two trips to the state playoffs.
While a student at Southern Virginia, Grawrock served as an assistant women’s soccer coach from 1999-2001 as the team went 37-14-1 (.721) over that period, including an NSCAA national championship in 2001. He also played one season on Southern Virginia's 1998 men’s soccer team that placed sixth at the NSCAA national tournament.
Grawrock has a B.A. in liberal arts from Southern Virginia and a master’s degree in sport management and sport coaching from the United States Sports Academy.
Matt and his wife, Duste, reside in Buena Vista with their four children.
