BUENA VISTA, Va. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team fell short against Meredith College Tuesday evening, losing 4-2.

The Knights fell behind quickly in the fifth minute when Lillian Fox found the net, scoring in the middle of the box.

Nearly ten minutes later, the Avenging Angels added to their lead by scoring their second goal, increasing the lead 2-0.

Fox added to her goal total when she scored her second with less than five minutes remaining in the half, creating a 3-0 deficit for the Knights.

The Knights came out of the half a different team. Within the first eight minutes Jamilla Anderson scored the Knights first of the game when she beat the goalkeeper on the pass from McCall Jensen.

Later into the second half, Holly Cunha added her name to the scoresheet as she received the pass from Cydne Baker, bringing the Knights within one with the score now 3-2.

Southern Virginia had their share of missed opportunities throughout the game, the final blow came to the Knights when the Avenging Angel's Jessica Wallace scored on a breakaway goal to put the game beyond reach at 4-2.

The Knights continue their five-game home stretch playing Regent Thursday, Sept. 27 at 4:30 p.m. at Knight Stadium.
