GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team received their first loss of the season with a 2-0 loss to Greensboro College Saturday afternoon at Pride Field.
Greensboro (4-0) outpaced the Knights (2-1) in shots (15-6), shots on goal (11-3) and corner kicks (6-2).
In the 24th minute, Natalie Habich of Greensboro found teammate Anna Rae Porcelli outside of the box where Porcelli was able to score the game's first goal.
The Knights were unable to capitalize on the few opportunities in the second half. The Pride was able to add to their lead in the 57th minute with unassisted goal from Mercedes Bauza making the game 2-0, a score that would remain for the rest of the game.
Jamillia Anderson led the Knights with shots with two, while Emma Stohl, Sydney Kuhni, and McCall Jensen each had a shot on goal. Goalkeeper Rachel Miller logged a complete game with nine total saves for the Knights.
Southern Virginia continues road play in Bridgewater, Virginia on Wednesday Sept. 12, at 4:00 p.m.
