Women's Soccer Posts 1-0 Win Over Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. — A Taylor Mercer goal in the last ten minutes of Wednesday's match sealed the deal for the Southern Virginia University women's soccer team in a 1-0 Capital Athletic Conference match over Marymount University.

Both teams combined for 20 shots and a single goal in the back and forth contest. The Knights' (7-8-1, 3-3-1 CAC) Taylor Mercer and Kylie Auger led all players with five shots apiece. Mercer's game-winner came in the 83rd minute from a McCall Jensen pass into the six-yard box.

In goal, Merideth Ouellette earned the shutout with five saves.

With two games to play the Knights are still in contention for third place, but could also miss the playoffs with two losses and a couple of key wins.

Southern Virginia heads to York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
