Palmer Honored as USCAA Second Team All-American

By Daniel Whitehead

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Southern Virginia University junior forward Lora Palmer was honored Tuesday afternoon by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as a Second Team All-American for her accomplishments during the 2013 women's soccer season.

Each season, the USCAA honors 15 First Team, 15 Second Team and several Honorable Mention scholar-athletes for their outstanding performances.

Palmer, an Alpine, Utah native, led the team in goals this season with 12 and had a team-best 32 points and eight assists over 17 games. She took 31 shots on the year with 20 on goal, the second-most on the team in 2013.

Against Fisher College on Oct. 11, she scored four goals in the game on five shot attempts, while scoring three goals against Washington Adventist on Sept. 23. Palmer also had two other games with a pair of goals against Trinity and Penn State Harrisburg.

The Knights travel to Chicago, Ill., this weekend to compete in a postseason tournament designed for NCAA Division III institutions with provisional membership status. Southern Virginia faces the Illinois Institute of Technology Friday evening at 6 p.m. ET. The winner advances to face Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday.
