Palmer Named CAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

By Daniel Whitehead

BUENA VISTA, Va.—Southern Virginia University junior forward Lora Palmer was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following her performances last week against Washington Adventist and Penn State Harrisburg.

The Alpine, Utah, native scored five goals last week including three against WAU and two versus PS Harrisburg in the Knights' first ever CAC match. She also recorded three assists between the two games to account for a total of 13 points for the week.

"Lora played some great soccer for us and displayed her leadership by how she performed our attack," said Southern Virginia Director of Soccer Matt Grawrock. "To score five goals between the two games means she was hustling to the ball and knew where to find open gaps in the defense to be in position to score. Assisting three other goals shows that she was unselfish and helped others be where they were supposed to. She does a lot for the team."

Against Washington Adventist last Monday, Palmer earned 10 shot attempts with six on goal and had two assists to go with her three goals scored in the game. Facing PS Harrisburg on Saturday, she achieved four shots with three on goal and had one assist to go with her two goals scored.

On the year, Palmer has registered seven goals with five assists in eight games for a total of 19 points. Her scoring output helped the Knights improve to 3-5-0 for the season.

York (Pa.) College freshman goalkeeper Stevi Lukacz was named the CAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Southern Virginia returns to action Saturday with a match on the road at St. Mary's (Md.) scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.
