MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn.—The Southern Virginia University women's soccer team lost its third straight game to begin the 2011 season Saturday evening falling to Milligan College, 3-0.
Milligan's Samantha Barton put the Knights in an early 2-0 deficit when she scored back-to-back goals in the 26th and 28th minutes.
Southern Virginia was never able to get its offense going against Milligan as the Buffaloes outshot the Knights 18-8 for the match.
Milligan iced the game in the 70th minute when Rachel Martin scored the Buffaloes' third and final goal.
The Knights have yet to score a goal in three matches so far this season, however, their competition has been unforgiving facing two D-I schools (Radford, VMI) and NAIA-affiliated Milligan.
Southern Virginia will look to collect its first win of 2011 during their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. against Randolph College.
