FERRUM, Va. - Sophomore midfielder, Kendra Heim, and junior defender, Tamara Nagle, are the two newest Southern Virginia University women's soccer players to be named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors All-State team, placing on the second team or the 2010 season. The duo were part of a team that registered the most wins since the 2004 season, and helped the program to a third place at the USCAA National Tournament. Heim placed on the second team for a second consecutive year. Heim was tied for first on the the team with total points, as she tallied 7-goals, and 4-assists, for a total of 18-points. Heim also was named a USCAA All-American as well as an Academic All-American by the USCAA. The sophomore added a game winning goal during he season, and 58-shots with 36 on frame.
Nagle was named to the team for the first time, but also added a USCAA All-American award to the post-season accolades. Nagle led the Knights' defense to a whopping 10-shutouts on the season, the second highest total in program history. The junior defender also added a game-winning goal against Ferrum late in the season.
The duo represent only the second time that members of the women's soccer program have earned a place on the prestigious All-State team. Heim was the groundbreaker in the 2009 season. The duo also represent the first time that an SVU team, other than football, has placed multiple members on a VaSID All-State Team.
