Kindred Named To NAIA All-Independent Second Team

BUENA VISTA, Va. - Freshman forward, Bryndel Kindred, has made Southern Virginia University women's soccer history, as she was named to the NAIA All-Independent Second Team, and became the first soccer player to earn this award. Kindred was the team's leading scorer this season, as she recorded 8-goals, and assisted two other goals. She led the team in points with 18, and was named an All-American by the USCAA.

Kindred had a hat-trick once this season in a game with Mountain State. Kindred helped the Knights return to the USCAA national tournament as a #2 seed, and helped them take a third place finish at the tournament.

The award is a program first, as no player from the SVU program has ever been named to an NAIA post-season team. The award is the second time in two years that a member of the program has broken new ground, with Kendra Heim's place on the VaSID Second Team, in 2009, also being the first post-season award for the Knights outside of the USCAA.
