Women's Soccer And Volleyball Play Breast Cancer Fundraiser Games

BUENA VISTA, Va. Fans of Southern Virginia volleyball and women's soccer are encouraged to wear pink and support both teams Oct. 19 when they host Eastern Mennonite and Mountain State, respectively, in a breast cancer awareness fundraiser. The soccer game will be first at 4:00 pm at the fields. SVU comes in to the game having remained unbeaten since Sep. 21. The Knights are 4-0-1 in that time.

The home team will wear pink shirts for the game to raise awareness of breast cancer. Halftime entertainment will include fundraising games, that fans can participate in with all entrance fees going to breast cancer research foundations. The team has committed to donate $10 for every goal scored by the Knights in the competition. Donations will also be accepted to go along with concessions sales at the game.

The volleyball team will welcome the Royals of EMU at 7:00 pm in Knight Arena. Like the soccer team, the volleyball team will be wearing forms of pink as a reminder for all fans of the fundraiser. Concessions carrying over from the soccer game will be available, and donations, again, will be accepted. The Knights will come in to the game against EMU after taking part in the Randolph College Invitational on Oct. 16.

Fans who would be interested in donating, but cannot attend either of the games are encouraged to contact head women's soccer coach Matt Grawrock, by following the link here. Fans can also contact Acting Athletic Director, Deidra Dryden at the link here.
